| RM AUDIO, Ltd., the Atlanta based
production company, recently had the privilege of parking it’s 48 track, Trident equipped remote truck
at the home of Columbia Recording Artist Dionne Farris for a week of on-site tracking and overdubs
Present for this project was Dionne’s Producer Randy Jackson, and
engineer Allan Abrahamson, along
with RM AUDIO’s John Tyler as 2nd engineer,
Karl Diehl as audio maintenance tech, and Heather Brooks as “studio” tech. Other recent RM AUDIO recording projects include veteran southern rockers The Atlanta Rhythm Section, as well as
Katherine
Mitchell at The Believers Bible Baptist Church, in Atlanta, Georgia. Between December 15th
and January 17th RM posted a record number of projects including The Black Crowes, Government Mule (featuring Warren and Woody from The
Allman Brothers Band), North Carolina based cow punkers Belmont Playboys and various gospel sessions. |
On January 6th RM Audio provided its 32 track digital truck to assist producer Kevin Shirley in a worldwide broadcast of Columbia artists The Black Crowes live-to-air in a promotional debut of selections from By Your Side, the new album already racing up the charts. Mark Felsot of The Album Network coordinated the event, digitally aired from the band’s rehearsal studio using ISDN. New Year’s Eve at The Roxy in Atlanta was
tracked live for Capricorn Records featuring Government Mule. Special guests included
Derek Trucks, guitarist Mark Ford, pianist Chuck Leavell, saxophonist Randall Bramlett
and
organist Bernie Worrell. The RM 48 track analog truck was utilized,
including 48 tracks of ADAT as digital backup. December 19th found the staff of RM Audio using the analog truck at the
popular Midtown club, The Point, to track a blistering set by legendary session master
Rodney Mills (of
Atlanta Rhythm Section fame) recording The Belmont Playboys. RM Audio tracked gospel sensations Sister Pope and The Pearly
Gates for Atlanta International Records, as well as The AVC Mass Choir for
Sincere Records, produced by William Tony & Edsel Robinson. RM engineers for the events included Jack Huggins, Lou Simmons, Karl Diehl, Robin Streed, and John Tyler. |
